Closework is built on a simple principle: the time you set aside to focus is yours. This Privacy Policy explains how Closework handles your information, which is to say the app does not collect it, and we never receive it. Your timers live on your device, and they travel only to your own private iCloud, and only if you ask them to. By using Closework, you agree to the terms outlined below.
Data Not Collected
Closework does not collect or share your data with us or third parties. Your timers stay on your device, and sync, when you turn it on, reaches only your own private iCloud.
1. Information We Collect
Closework does not collect personal data. The app does not require an account, sign-in, email address, or any other identifying information. We do not collect device identifiers, usage statistics, crash reports, or analytics of any kind. Nothing you set up in a timer is ever transmitted to us. Not its length, not its name, not when you ran it.
2. Notifications and Alarms
If you allow notifications, Closework schedules a local alert on your device for the moment a timer ends. If you also allow alarms, Closework can ring a timer through Apple's AlarmKit, so it sounds and shows on the Lock Screen like a system alarm. Both are scheduled and delivered entirely by iOS. No notification or alarm passes through any server of ours, and no push service is involved. You can revoke either permission at any time in the Settings app.
3. Data Storage
Your timers, presets, and settings are stored locally on your device. We operate no server and no database of our own, and the app has no back end to send your data to. Closework also offers optional iCloud sync, turned off by default and switched on by you. With it on, your timers are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit, where they stay yours and remain unreadable to us, and Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Turn sync off at any time and your timers stay on the device.
4. Third-Party Services
Closework does not integrate with any analytics platform, advertising network, crash reporter, or tracking SDK. The only network requests the app makes are to Apple's own services: CloudKit, if you turn on iCloud sync, and the App Store, for the optional purchase. Your activity inside Closework is not observed, recorded, or shared in any form.
5. Data Security
Because Closework stores your timers locally, their security rests on your device's built-in protections, including iOS sandboxing, your device passcode, and Face ID or Touch ID. Anything synced to iCloud is protected by the security of your Apple Account. We recommend keeping iOS up to date, enabling device-level authentication, and using two-factor authentication on your Apple Account.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page. Because Closework does not collect any data or send any messages of its own, we cannot proactively notify you of changes. Please check back periodically if you want to stay informed.
